The main button should not be moved to the other end of the remote from v1 to v2!

I am a big fan of hue and especially using the hue dimmer switch essentially a remote (I have 8 dimmer switches/remotes in my house including the new v2). The main function I use is scrolling between the different scenes I have set up for each room. In the attached video you can see the scenes I programmed in my hallway: – Evening mode of green and pink called 'Joker's Lair' 😉 – Two different day modes that look identical in the video – Another evening mode called 'Party' (have didn't use that during the lockdown!) - A night mode with minimal lighting (for when you have to pee in the middle of the night) - Back to the evening mode and so on... In the old 'more square remote' you would go through the scenes scroll by pressing the 'I' button at the top in the new 'more rounded remote' the cycle is done by pressing the new 'hue' button at the bottom.

Excellent quality and easy to set up.

I already have a few hue lights but bought this switch for the Hue Centris I got for my kitchen because it was a pain to get my phone out every time I wanted to adjust the lights. Works great easy to set different color schemes that change every time you press the Hue button. Good quality construction feels really sturdy. I stuck this to my wall with the 3M adhesive strips already mounted on the switch but it can also be attached well with screws. Conveniently, the switch can also be lifted off the holder and worn as a remote control. I don't need this function for the kitchen, but it can be useful if you set the switch for different rooms in the house.

Really easy to set up and use

I moved a door in a bedroom so the light switch is now behind the door. No problem with a Hue lamp and this switch mounted on the wall. This is the second one I've bought and they both perform great. Setup is somewhat tricky as you seem to keep trying the pairing option until it works - the setup on the phone app gives you the option to enter the switch's ID code and that certainly seemed to speed it up. Once configured it was a case of wall mounting. I was planning on screwing the back plate to the wall (and it has holes in it to support it) but the tape supplied seems to do the job so I'll do something more permanent if/when the tape fails. The switch itself connects to the back plate via a (strong) magnet so that you can take the switch with you / leave it on a bedside table etc.

    Better than V1?

Not really much difference between this and the previous version of the dimmer switch. I think I prefer the single power button and matte finish but that's about it. Don't regret buying another switch but I certainly wouldn't consider upgrading a V1 switch to this one

    good progress

The dimmer feels more valuable than the first version and also offers more setting options in the Hue app ("time-based light" or "scene cycle" mode). All in all, a good further development, especially if you want to replace conventional light switches with the Hue dimmer (of course the old switch must be removed for this, the dimmer cannot be placed over an existing switch).

Good addition to my Hue lighting

Unfortunately, after moving house, I had to come up with something for my bedroom. Previously, control was done via motion detectors installed in the hallway. The new apartment no longer had an entrance hall, so I had to look for something else. Unfortunately my other half is not as intusiastic and technophile as I am and just talks to the phone to control the light 🙄 I had to think about something. So before I get to know the frying pan, I prefer to get a switch.😊 I am a big fan of the Hue system. What I am not a friend of, however, is the completely outrageous price, but that is certainly a matter of opinion. So now the switch itself is a very solid product made of plastic.

Old V1 and new version V2 of the Philips Hue dimmer switch in comparison

Switch: – The Hue button can be used to switch between 5 scenes stored in the app – The button at the top now serves as an on/off switch – Magnetic dimmer switch: can also be attached to the fridge etc. without a bracket – The material is compared to the first high-quality dimmer switch – New design with rounded corners looks much more modern – Quick battery change without unscrewing screws with z. Wall bracket: – The new version has become wider/higher (8 x 125 cm) and covered now an empty switch box – to be fixed with the adhesive strips already applied or with the help of screws (hole distance approx. 58 – 66 cm)
